Salt Box since 1820
Salt Box is a romantic historical property located in the heart of Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Constructed of thick coral stone blocks and a native Bahamian hardwood colloquially referred to as “Abaco Steel”, the house has stood the test of time. In 2016, a brand new guest cottage and pool were added to the property by acclaimed architect Kiko Sanchez with interiors by Amanda Lindroth.
The Turquoise room designed by Tom Scheerer
The main house was owned and lovingly restored by world-famous interior designer Tom Scheerer. The master suite occupies the entire second floor.
The hardwood floors of the master suite have been painted a glossy white to reflect light throughout the room, while the walls and ceiling are a soothing seafoam green.
Chill & Grill under the Clam Shell
Created in 2021 the Clam Shell sits on coral stone blocks quarried when the house cistern was excavated in 1820. From this corner of the property you have a spectacular view that comes to life in the evenings.
The Historical Kitchen & Fire Place
Salt Box is one of the last historical homes with a functional fireplace inside the kitchen. First modernized in the 1940's then again by Tom Scheerer in the late 90s' when he added the Cuban tiles found in most of the oldest houses in The Bahamas. Recently it was modernized again in 2021 to add counter space and amenities while keeping its original design and charm.

The main living areas are an indoor-outdoor hybrid, staying true to the original life style of island living where you can enjoy the outdoor gentle breeze.
Salt Box is also conveniently situated within walking distance from Valentine's Marina and the island's fabulous restaurants and boutiques.

Salt Box has two bath tubs both with unique features. The cottage hall leads to a bathroom with a claw-foot tub and double doors opening to an outdoor shower. With the doors open, you can lie in the tub and get a clear view of the garden and the pool.
